It all began with two people

About Us

Family faces are magic mirrors.
Looking at people who belong to us,
we see the past, present and future.

Gail Lumet Buckley

Amy Elaine

DOB 2.1.1976

I grew up in Western Washington and loved the city life, the Puget Sound, and the people. Sometimes I miss the opportunities and activity of the Pacific Northwest, but often I count my blessings when I know it's raining over there on a day when the sun is shining in my windows.  I do like the slower pace of life we have in Eastern Washington and I am thankful that my life has provided me the opportunity to stay at home with my small children as they grow into little people. I am also thankful to have my sister-in-laws so close and the cousins in play-date range.

Christopher James

DOB 2.28.1976

Chris grew up in Eastern Washington, on a farm, and with many siblings. It's such a dichotomy that we came together.  But, so often we are thankful for the differences in our background and in our personalities because they compliment each other and give us opportunities to share with each other. Chris is a wonderful husband; he would walk through fire for me and would do anything in his power to make sure I am happy, both emotionally and spiritually. I couldn't ask for a better partner. He is also a great dad; he doesn't mind changing diapers, willingly gives baths, revels in playing pillow fights, and quite frankly loves being a dad. His favorite hobby these days is his motorcycle and this winter it will be his blow torch and tools (to rebuild the trailer).

Camden James

DOB 8.27.2003

Camden is growing up so fast these days. When he hit 3-1/2 he suddenly understood us better, responded to our inquiries faster, and talked more clearly.  He loves being a big brother and shows great moments of kindness; although, he doesn't particularly like sharing his toys.  He enjoys cooking with Mama and looks forward to tinkering in the garage with Papa.  He likes to be in control, likes to make choices (and is firm in his decisions), likes to think the dogs are his, and likes to swing on swings and slide down slides!  He is learning so much at preschool and loves it when we turn the corner to reach "My School!"

Amber Elaine

DOB 2.14.2006

Amber is coming into toddler-hood with a mission - to keep up with her brother. And if she can't keep up, get what she wants, or be where she wants to be, she will firmly let you know with a wale of the voice and a drop of a tear.  She has a smile, much like her brother, that is irresistible. But on the same note she can be very sober and is often reserved with strangers.  She loves to look at books and is trying to say new words every day.

Sam

DOB 8.15.2001

Sam is a pure-bred chocolate Labrador Retriever. He was born in Eastern Washington and picked up on a cold football afternoon in Chewela.  Sam became "Amy's dog" when Chris left for a business trip just 2 weeks after Sam was brought home; Amy taught Sam how to go up and down the stairs, and he hasn't left her side since. Sam is a kind, smart, energetic, and patient dog. He loves Nova, even though he'd probably deny it so that he could have the sunny spot to lay in.  Not to mention he will fetch a stick and swim through the waves until there's no more life in him.

Nova

DOB 5.1.2002

Nova is a shepherd/black Labrador Retriever mix. We found him at the Benton-Franklin County Humane Society. He was just 6 months old, but had already gone through 2 homes.  As such, Nova has separation anxiety, personal space issues, and territorial pride.  It has been a challenge for Nova to be around the kids, but it's gotten better since he learned the kids come first and he'd have to leave if he couldn't get along with them. Nova is a lover and will do anything for a head scratch. As a matter of fact he'll be quite insistent that you pay attention to him. He loves Sam and enjoys playing keep-away with him.
